Is this a true allergic contact dermatitis reaction to henna or is there some paraphenylene diamine mixed in with the henna which is in fact the real allergen? We have seen these cases in Australia when people come back from Bali with temporary tatoos. Patch testing shows ppd allergy.
Henna is sometimes treated with other chemicals to enhance its color. So, I think a possibility of contact dermatitis to other chemicals can not be ruled out under such circumstances.
